Kyle was raised traditionally by both his late Nitanskotapan (great-grandparents in Cree) and Nohkom (grandmother) near and on Driftpile First Nation, 320 kilometres north of Edmonton. 

He sees his role as a bridge builder, an educator and a spiritual guide.

He was a Oskapewis (helper) from an early age, which makes his current role at the Misericordia a perfect fit.
