
The Northern Alberta Vascular Centre at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton is home to some of the top vascular surgeons in North America.
Vascular Surgeon Dr. Gerrit Winkelaar, along with a highly skilled care team, perform surgery on a patient at Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, home of the Northern Alberta Vascular Centre (NAVC). The team of six NAVC surgeons provides care to more than two million Albertans.
Vascular surgery improves the lives of more than 2,300 Albertans a year, and demand is growing. Endovascular surgery is performed using minimally invasive techniques. This means shorter hospital stays and better outcomes for patients.

Vascular Surgeon Dr. Jason Bayne is following up with patients he recently performed surgery on at Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, home of the Northern Alberta Vascular Centre (NAVC). Jason is one of six NAVC surgeons who serve all of northern Alberta—more than 2 million people. One of his patients is Beatrice Davis. Beatrice said she felt immediate relief after her surgery, and was smiling and eager to go home within a couple of days. Vascular surgeons are able to restore blood flow to limbs and organs.
